Biographical Sketch

Dr. Vo is postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in the Neurobehavioral Research Laboratory and Clinic. She is a clinical psychologist and graduate of the University of Maryland College Park. After her first year of graduate school, Dr. Vo was funded by an Individual Fellowship from the National Institutes of Child and Human Development. She also received the Samuel M. Turner Scientist-Practitioner Award for her ability to integrate her clinical and research endeavors. Subsequently, Dr. Vo completed her APA-accredited internship at the Honolulu Veterans Affairs Medical Center where she focused on neuropsychological assessments of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and dementia. In addition, she worked with culturally diverse patients with co-morbid pathologies that included chronic pain, depression, and anxiety (with particular focus on PTSD).


Intrigued with neuropsychological, biopsychological, and environmental variables on addictive behaviors, Dr. Vo studied caffeine consumption in women with Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). Broadly, her interests include neuroendocrine, behavioral, mood, and cognitive factors. Currently Dr. Vo is applying these interests at the NRLC via studies that examine biological markers and effects of alcohol, and other drugs of abuse, on impulsivity and aggressive behaviors.
